Close up of the welt and fabrics

The Chevron is pinned

Below is the reverse side of the seat back
It is a different look, and does not have piping

The Zippers

More pinning and sewing
The Waverly "Maui" fabric that the chevron is made from is also being used for the curtains

All Stacked up with No Place to go....

The Curtain Fabric

I found the perfect fabric three days before the trailer appeared...I just knew I needed this Waverly print!
It is a retro print called "Maui" featuring tropical leaves (fronds?) with a beautiful pink background.

Here is what eight yards of it looks like...

Here is what eight yards looks like cut in pieces for curtains...

The lining fabric is a sage green with cool striations in it to look vintage...
And here they are sewn together...fringe is still coming!

The Vintage Cabinet Hardware

Well, since they are so hard to come by....I decided that they had to be kept.  Problem was, they were the faux gold tone finish....hate that.  Hate the word "faux" also. Here they are as found:
Close up
They are really neat vintage style pulls
Here they are, with the bakelite type end caps masked off
Here they are with the primer applied...
And with a few coats of flat black finish coat
It was the only alternative, as the faux silver (chrome) always looks so fake
At least the flat black actually does look like hammered wrought iron
It is a vintage look

And here are the rest of the handles, hinges...

That look quite sharp actually
Below are all of the square-ish hammered looking screws
Bonus points for painting all of them flat black to coordinate
I would have gladly bought new, but you just can't find them any longer

Exterior Paint - The Side Markings

The original curb-side paint design was just barely visible
I wiped it down with denatured alcohol and sanded it, and it was basically just a shadow
I wanted to get some paint on it now, before we paint the entire trailer so that the lines of the design will be visible to even mask it off - it was hard enough this way, I can't even imagine trying to mask it off the reverse outline.  This must have been the side that was alway in the sun, the other side is still good enough to see the design on.
Masked off with blue tape
Masked off
Green enamel was applied. "Italian Olive" I doubt this will be the final color.
Now the white looks exceptionally shabby...
Another view.  This is a really cool design...

The Oak Paneling is FABULOUS...

Some pictures of the oak paneling inside of the trailer.
It is dry, but is it such pretty wood.  I can't wait to see it with shellac on it!
See the flame in the oak?
This is the back of the street-side dinette seat.
it seems a shame to cover this beautiful wood with a cushion!

The rear upper bunk.
This area is usually hidden when it is folded up.
I am tempted to take the upper bunk out just because this wood is so awesome.
I know, I won't - but I really, really want to!

Here it is folded up and in.  The doors are off for refinishing.
This is going to be SO much fun!

The Classic Tin Can? The Craigs List Pics

Well, hitting "reload" on the computer finally paid off! We were the first people to call on this old Roadrunner travel trailer that was on craigslist yesterday. Got it home today...too dark for picture taking, but here are the Craigslist photos for now.

The aluminum is really straight!
The woodwork shows NO signs of EVER having had a leak!  Now, THAT is EXCITING!
The formica on the table, counter and backsplash is a really cool swirl design.
The upholstery fabric isn't as good as I had hoped....but really like the color. Oh well.
This is the Waverly drapery fabric I ordered a few days ago - funny how the trailer showed up to match the drapes!
